Mens Diamond Wedding Bands-Recent Phenomenon?

Did you know that men’s wedding rings did not even exist over 100 years ago? In fact, they are a very recent phenomenon. Up until more recently, a man’s wedding ring was a simple gold band with no adornments or jewels whatsoever. Now, men’s wedding rings have changed quite a bit. These days, there are mens diamond wedding bands available, and boy have they become popular! There are even more exotic rings that have been manufactured using platinum or tungsten.

Men really started wearing wedding tings in the 1950’s. They were gold, white gold, silver or platinum but only later started to add things such as diamonds. As the economic boom hit, it was easier for couples to afford nicer rings. Now, there is no question that most couples will invest in a nice wedding ring for both the bride and the groom. In fact, for the woman, it is a focal point in the wedding planning.

The traditional men’s gold wedding band is still available, of course. It is common to see men wearing these all the time. However, there are now more option using mounted stones and other embellishments. Now, men’s diamond wedding bands are becoming more popular. There are also other kinds of men’s wedding bands such as ones with emeralds, sapphires, rubies and other precious stones. In addition, you will see bands that have engravings that showcase the wedding date or a special message from the bride. Even Celtic symbols, such as the knot, have become very popular over the last several years.

Of course, most men would not want a feminine looking ring, so they opt for more masculine looking and durable rings. Gold rings are softer and pretty easy to scratch. This is why tungsten rings are very sought after now. These are made from platinum and palladium, and are very common nowadays. Tungsten is a metal that was used for older light bulbs. Palladium is extremely hard and very scratch resistant. These rings will literally last  for a lifetime (or several lifetimes) which makes them great heirloom pieces.

Another popular choice now is his and her rings that match in some way. Of course, the man will not be wearing a big diamond solitaire, but he can have a ring that is in the same style as his bride. There have been many design changes over the years which have led to a much larger selection of styles and colors of rings. Because of this, men have more of a selection from which to choose. This includes more rugged metals such as titanium In fact, titanium comes in black as well. When used with silver, this is a very masculine combination and has a stunning look to it. Rope bands have also become a popular choice for men.

Of course, there are still come men who prefer a more simplistic gold wedding band to pay homage to times gone by. He might, however, want to consider a few small diamonds in his band just to add a little something special.
